Fernando Sosa

Fernando Sosa was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on May 19, 1977.
He moved to Italy in 1993 to pursue a career as a footballer, but here he met his Master Alberto Valdes, and his path changed completely. The master introduces him to the world of Caribbean dances.
After a course of study and training that led him to dance in the then very famous show group “Otra Idea”, he decided in 2000, together with Rafael González, to found his own company:
TROPICAL GEM DANCE COMPANY.
This immediately stands out for its innovative and cutting-edge style, characterized by determination and energy, peculiarities that lead the group and its leaders to quickly become very famous and in demand all over the world.

Fernando Sosa together with his partner Tito Petronio, founded the dance school “Sosa Academy Dance School” in 2008, which over the years became an international academy specialized in the Caribbean sector , and which today offers students and dancers who come here from all over the world the opportunity to train in Caribbean dance and many other dance disciplines.

In 2011, again together with his partner Tito Petronio, they opened the well-known Camana Club, strategically located next to the Sosa Academy. The nightclub immediately becomes one of the most popular venues for Caribbean evenings in Milan and the surrounding area.

In parallel with the growth of the academy and the venue. Fernando Sosa and his group Tropical Gem continue to export their performances around the world, touching all continents and participating in the most important festivals.
In 2016, 2017 and 2018 they won first place at the international Ultimate Latin Dance Championship competition in Las Vegas.
During his career there is no shortage of television appearances on programs such as Cd Live, Top of the pops, Sanremo Festival, Il Grande Fratello, Festival Bar, Le Iene, La sai l'Ultima?, Italian Got Talent, American Got Talent.

Fernando Sosa creates the film The Latin Dream together with director Luis Medina and co-producer Tito Petronio, of which Fernando Sosa is the protagonist, producer and creator. The film will be released in cinemas in summer 2017.
In the following years he tried his hand at producing and making the short films Sola, Good Luck and Without You.
In summer 2021, he wrote and produced the film “Sballo per te” (of which he is the protagonist), shot and edited by the director Massimo Scalici and produced by Tito Petronio, in next release in Italy.

Fernando Sosa is the creator of the now very famous international competition Salsanamà, a competition with a particular One vs One format, where participants have to improvise on the various pieces presented to them.

To date, in the international Salsero environment, Fernando Sosa is considered by everyone, the public and his colleagues, to be one of the greatest exponents of world renown, and after over 25 years of career he continues to be among the most requested figures by the various organizations in the sector.
